IBM’s Ground-breaking Delivery of 7090 Mainframes on November 30, 1959″

On November 30, 1959,

IBM delivered the first two IBM 7090 mainframe computers. These were among the initial commercially produced fully-transistorized computers. Renowned for their role in NASA’s control of Mercury and Gemini space flights, as well as various other significant scientific and government applications in the 1960s, the 7090 and its successor, the 7094, left an indelible mark. Some 7090s continued to serve well into the 1970s and 1980s.
