Dell’s Bold Vision: Transformative Waves in AI, Cybersecurity, and Edge Computing for 2024

John Roese, Global CTO at Dell Technologies, emphasizes the importance of establishing a shared responsibility model for AI, highlighting its integration into a broader ecosystem. According to Roese, understanding data and people is crucial for effective AI implementation, emphasizing their interrelated nature. He views AI as a profound force that should be considered an essential part of a shared ecosystem.

Looking ahead to 2024, Dell Technologies is preparing for a transformative year with a focus on GenAI. In a recent webinar, Roese reiterated that businesses are only in the second year of the AI era. Dell anticipates significant progress in GenAI and quantum computing, building on their 2023 advancements with Meta and the appointment of their first Chief AI Officer.

Roese outlines Dell’s expectations for 2024, emphasizing a shift from theoretical GenAI applications to practical impacts. The focus will move from building training infrastructure to inference, aiming to implement AI models that have tangible effects on processes like fine-tuning and transaction processing. Dell foresees GenAI becoming intertwined with quantum computing, adopting a strategic, top-down approach to select transformative projects.

Additionally, Dell predicts the realization of Zero Trust cybersecurity in 2024, promoting a ‘never trust, always verify’ mindset. Roese envisions Zero Trust becoming the norm, with increased adoption by public and private companies and governments worldwide. Dell aims to enhance its security posture through capabilities integration and orchestration, planning to deliver a repeatable Zero Trust architecture blueprint in 2024.

Dell also anticipates the expansion of edge platforms, with a focus on the Dell Native Edge platform centralizing the deployment and management of edge infrastructure. Dell expects enterprises to adopt a platform model, extending clouds to the edge for increased flexibility. In essence, 2024 marks a pivotal year for Dell, with advancements in GenAI, cybersecurity, and edge computing shaping the technological landscape.
